If you have to call 911 and they ask your location, do NOT say Lake Bluff! You do NOT live in Lake Bluff. You live in unincorporated Lake County. In the past, we have had several misdirected 911 calls from Whispering Lake residents. 911 operators have directed calls from Whispering Lake to the wrong emergency providers, and residents have been "bounced around" from provider to provider. If you call 911 from a land line, don't worry, they have caller ID. If you call from a cell phone they will ask your location. Do not say Lake Bluff. We have Lake Bluff mailing addresses but You do not live in Lake Bluff. You live in unincorporated Lake County. If it's a Fire emergency or you need paramedics, tell them to dispatch Libertyville Fire and Rescue. If it's a Police emergency, then they should dispatch the Lake County Sheriffs Dept. Don't let them put you through to Lake Bluff. Lake Bluff emergency will not come here. They will just pass your call on to someone else, usually North Chicago, who won't come here either.
